Are used IBC totes safe to reuse?

Yes, when inspected and cleaned to the right grade. We examine the bottle for cracks or bulging, test the valve, check the cage welds, and confirm the pallet. Food-grade totes are triple-washed and previously held only food-safe contents.

What did the tote hold before?

We track prior contents wherever possible and won’t sell a food-grade tote that carried non-food chemicals. If prior contents are unknown, the tote is sold as technical or as-is, never as food-grade.

Do you deliver across California?

Can I buy just one, or do I need a pallet?

Both. We handle single-tote orders and large recurring supply contracts alike. Tell us your quantity in the form and we’ll quote accordingly.

What we check

Every used tote earns its grade on the inspection line

A used tote is only as trustworthy as the inspection behind it. Before anything leaves our San Jose yard, it runs the same checks — so the grade on the label is a promise, not a guess.

Bottle integrity

We look for cracks, bulging, star-crazing, and UV fatigue in the HDPE. A soft or brittle bottle is pulled from resale and sent to rebottling or recycling — never patched and passed off.

Prior contents

We trace what the tote last held. Food-only history is the gateway to a food grade; unknown or chemical history caps the tote at technical or as-is, full stop.

Valve & seals

The 2 in butterfly valve and its gasket are tested for shut-off and seep. Worn parts are swapped so the tote arrives leak-tight, not leaking.

Cage welds

Galvanized cage bars and welds are checked for rust-through and breaks that would compromise stacking two or three high when full.

Pallet base

The 40 × 48 in pallet is inspected for cracks and broken blocks so a loaded tote stays forklift- and jack-safe.

Cleaning match

The wash cycle is matched to the grade — a triple wash for food, a technical wash for industrial, a rinse for budget duty. You pay for exactly the cleanliness you need.

How long does a used IBC tote last?

A sound HDPE bottle has years of service left, and the cage and pallet last longer still. Kept out of direct UV and not overfilled, a well-inspected used tote often matches the remaining life of a new one for non-critical duty.

Can I use a used tote for drinking water?

Only if it is graded food-safe — meaning food-only prior contents and a triple wash. Ask specifically for a food-grade unit and we will confirm the history and cleaning before it ships.

Why is one used tote cheaper than another?

Price tracks grade, cosmetic condition, and quantity. A rinsed as-is tote costs less than a triple-washed food-grade one, and pallet-quantity orders price better per unit than singles.

Will a used tote have labels or stains?

Used totes carry honest cosmetic wear — old labels, scuffs, and light staining are normal and do not affect performance. If you need a clean, near-new look, step up to a reconditioned tote.

Do used totes come UN/DOT rated?

A used tote generally cannot carry a fresh UN/DOT transport rating. If you must ship regulated liquids, you need a rated new or reconditioned-rebottled unit — tell us and we will steer you right.

Can you swap my old totes for used ones?
